Shop E02

The project is a renovation of a souvenir shop located in Etara – an open-air ethnographic museum just outside Gabrovo, Bulgaria where tourists can explore traditional handcrafts and production techniques. The project intervention symbolically divides the shop space into two halves – a modern-day one and a historical one – which stand in a stark chromatic contrast. The modern-day half features a peg wall and a counter where souvenirs are exhibited. The use of black in the same area highlights all the colours of the displayed objects. The historical half where visitors enter the shop sticks to the atmosphere of the rest of the ethnographic houses and reads as belonging to the main walk of the museum.
